Translation: She doesn’t enjoy life, but swallows it raw. She may, from time to time, gently caress your neck like a jasmine in the early summer, but in a split second she’ll turn her terrifying, diabolical inner self towards you. She is he abyss which, when you see it, both draws you in, and fills you with dread. She is he fifth sister.

about

Most of the repertoire on this album are brand new compositions from Harald Haugaard e. g. the title track "Den Femte Søster" (The Fifth Sister). Great Nordic musicians such as Swedish guitarists Roger Tallroth and Mattias Peréz, Finnish bass player Tapani Varis, Danish cellist Kirstine Elise Pedersen and percussionist Sune Rahbek has contributed to the album.

"Den Femte Søster" includes also a new string quartet from Haugaard in three movements, the tune "The King Arrives" as well as a new song written by Haugaard and Danish pop/rock legend Steffen Brandt (TV-2) sung by Helene Blum. The album has been recorded and co-produced by Torben Sminge and mixed in Copenhagen's outstanding Medley Studio.

In the creation of music and performing Haugaard is an artist who is inquisitive and continuously searches for something new. He is undoubtedly rooted in traditional Danish music but brings with him a contemporary flair. The prestigious British music magazine fRoots has hailed him as one of the world's best folk fiddlers and the venerable classic string magazine The Strad regards Haugaard as a "charismatic virtuoso" in their review of his concert at London's King's Place in April 2009 saying: "Wonderfully clean playing and dynamic delivery".
